Plan a romantic getaway on the Southern California coast at one of the Shade Hotels in Los Angeles. The properties Shade at the Beach (based in Manhattan Beach) and Shade at the Marina (based in Redondo Beach) are excellent choices for your SoCal stay. Their exciting new guest room designs, revamped restaurant menus and ideal locations can bring instant relaxation and comfort!
The founder of Shade Hotels, Michael Zislis, reflected on the redesign of the nearly two decade South Bay properties in a release:
“This refresh is about more than design updates. It’s about continuing to evolve with our guests and creating spaces and experiences that feel both elevated and personal. We take pride in offering the very best. Our guests are more than visitors. They’re part of our community, and we want every stay to feel memorable from the moment they arrive.”
So cool! Now, let’s dive more into the updates that you can look forward to.

Shade at the Beach is celebrating its 20th anniversary and its redesign has a beach-inspired design. There are also some terrific cuisine options such as zinc@shade and its globally inspired menu. The Black Cod glazed with housemade miso and served over soba noodles with baby bok choy, red cabbage, bell pepper, cilantro, peanuts sounds mouth watering!
Guests can also enjoy the Skydeck featuring a new pool and cabanas to enjoy early morning swims, day time relaxation and sunsets!
Shade at the Marina in Redondo Beach is in its ninth year and offers guest rooms with private balconies and soaking tubs.
It sounds so relaxing to hang out on the Aquadeck rooftop with the laid-back lounge and its harbor front location.
