This week, Daily Travel Source is spotlighting the beautiful island of Guam. We caught up with the Guam Visitors Bureau to learn about the best places to take in nature, local dishes to try and ideal locations to visit.

Guam has been on my bucket list to travel to for many years! For those that have not visited Guam yet, what are some ideal locations to stay on a first trip?

The majority of Guam's hotels and resorts are less than 10 minutes from the A.B. Won Pat International Airport and located along Tumon Bay, offering stunning ocean and sunset views. For a luxurious experience, visitors can opt for The Tsubaki Tower, Dusit Thani Guam Resort, the Westin Resort Guam, the Lotte Hotel or more. Visitors traveling with children may want to stay at either the Pacific Islands Club or Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Guam (both have a waterpark). You can learn more by visiting this link.

The beaches in Guam look absolutely stunning! Do you have one or two favorite beaches that you’d recommend travelers visit?

The beaches along Tumon Bay are all fantastic, from Ypao Beach near the Hilton Guam Resort to Matapang Beach in the middle of Tumon, and Gun Beach at the opposite end of Guam's tourism district. Tumon Bay is a marine preserve full of hundreds of species of coral and marine life, making snorkeling here a very popular activity. Guam's waters are warm year round with great visibility.

For families interested in visiting Guam, what are some day trips to take in Guam’s beautiful nature?

To experience Guam's beautiful nature and learn about its rich history at the same time, you must visit Valley of the Latte Adventure Park. Valley of the Latte is one of Guam's most popular tours and is also a TripAdvisor award winning optional tour. Another way to enjoy Guam's beautiful nature is taking a nice scenic drive around the southern villages of Guam. There you'll see the Pacific Ocean, rivers, Inalahan Pools, Mount Lamlam with a stunning view of the mountains, Emerald Valley, and more!

What are some of the local dishes that visitors have to try when coming to Guam?

One of Guam's staples is red rice and bbq and you can taste this just about anywhere on island. Other local dishes include dried meat, fried parrot fish, chicken or fish kelaguen, titiyas, hagun suni (spinach in coconut milk). You can find all these in restaurants like Meskla, Capitol Kitchen, Proa Restaurant and at the Chamoru Village Wednesday Night Market.

Guam feels like a perfect romantic location for honeymooners! Do many honeymooners come to Guam and is there an ideal time of year to visit?

Guam is a popular wedding/honeymoon destination year-round. Most major hotels have beautiful chapels with stunning views of the ocean. Weddings can be arranged by one of several wedding planning companies that cater to tourists. You can learn more by clicking this link.
