Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives blends boutique luxury with unforgettable experiences, from its award-winning house reef to overwater dining and wellness by the ocean. In our latest Destination of the Week interview, the resort shares how personalized service, marine conservation, and meaningful connections create lasting memories for every guest.

What makes Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives stand out from other luxury resorts in the Maldives, and what experience do you hope guests remember long after they leave?

What sets Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives apart is our sense of connection. We call it Connected Island Luxury — where luxury isn’t about excess, but about how a place makes you feel.

Just 20 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, guests can arrive and truly unwind almost immediately, yet still feel completely removed from the world. Our boutique scale allows us to create something deeply personal: meaningful service, intuitive hospitality, and experiences shaped around the individual rather than a formula.

We are naturally a place for reconnection — with yourself, with the people you love, and with nature. Whether that’s a sunrise over the lagoon, dinner over the ocean at our signature overwater restaurant Firedoor, or a moment spent snorkelling our house reef together.

Long after guests leave, we hope what stays with them is not just the beauty of the island, but how they felt here: lighter, calmer, closer.

The resort is surrounded by stunning lagoons and vibrant marine life. What are some of the signature experiences that best showcase the natural beauty of Kodhipparu?

Our lagoon is the heart of the island, and one of our greatest natural assets. What makes it special is its accessibility — it’s not only beautiful, but inviting for every level of confidence in the water.

One of the most unique aspects of Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives is our award-recognised house reef, recently voted among the best in the Maldives by Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia Luxury Awards. It is accessible directly from the beach; guests can simply walk into the lagoon and be swimming over coral and marine life within moments — something that’s incredibly rare and ideal for both confident swimmers and first-time snorkellers.

We also offer guided snorkelling with our resident marine biologist, who is actively developing our coral nursery and “underwater gardening” initiatives, allowing guests to engage with reef restoration in a meaningful way.

Beyond the water itself, the island’s natural beauty reveals itself just as powerfully after dark. With very little light pollution, the night sky above Kodhipparu is remarkably clear — on many evenings, the stars feel close enough to touch. The lunar cycle over the lagoon creates its own rhythm here; from full moons casting silver light across the water to moonlit reflections dancing over the reef, it transforms the island into something almost dreamlike. It’s why we’re developing more moon-bathing and stargazing experiences as part of our wellness and romance journeys.

Experiences like our floating HamacLand in the lagoon for intimate sunset cocktails, dolphin cruises, and staying in our Reef Pool Villas or Grand Residence villas allow guests to experience the ocean not simply as a backdrop, but as part of everyday life — from sunrise beneath the surface to starlight above it.

The holidays are a special time for travel and connection. How does Grand Park Kodhipparu create a memorable festive atmosphere while staying true to its island setting and Maldivian charm?

Festive at Grand Park Kodhipparu is designed to feel magical, but never manufactured.

This year, our festive theme is A Celebration of Light & Lagoon: Festive Moments in Time — a concept that reflects both the spirit of the season and the natural rhythm of island life. Rather than imposing tradition onto the island, we reimagine it through a Maldivian lens.

That means sunset gatherings by the beach instead of formal ballrooms, Thanksgiving and  Christmas under the stars, island feasts with ocean-inspired flavours, barefoot celebrations and wellness rituals to begin the new year with intention.

Guiding guests through the season is our playful illustrated island heron — a new storytelling character woven throughout the programme, bringing warmth, fun and a touch of whimsical to the seasonal flair.

Festive here is about appreciating time together, about wonder, and making meaningful memories in an extraordinary setting.

How does Grand Park Kodhipparu balance delivering exceptional luxury experiences while protecting the island’s natural environment and marine ecosystem?

For us, luxury and responsibility have to go hand in hand. This year we were certified with Green Globe for the seventh consecutive year, and fifth year as gold status.

Our natural environment is not only our greatest asset — it’s part of the guest experience itself. Protecting it is essential to everything we do.

That includes ongoing coral propagation and reef restoration programmes led by our marine biologist, educational snorkelling experiences, reducing waste across the island, and sourcing more consciously through our culinary and operational teams.

We also believe sustainability is about creating awareness. Guests can actively participate in marine conservation, learn about reef health, and better understand the fragility of these ecosystems.

It’s a simple philosophy: if people connect more deeply with nature while they are here, they are more likely to value and protect it long after they leave.

For travelers planning their first Maldives getaway, what would you say are the three must-have experiences at Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives?

First, I would say experience the reef. Whether it’s your first time snorkelling or your fiftieth, having such immediate access to marine life straight from the beach is something very special. No two reef explorations are ever the same. We have turtles, eagle rays, octopus and all manner of fish at home on our house reef.

Second, dine at Firedoor. It’s our signature culinary experience — sunset over the Indian Ocean, transparent flooring above the water, and a menu centred around fire, flavour and provenance. It captures the romance of the Maldives beautifully.

And third, slow down enough to feel the island. That could be a sunrise yoga session, a spa ritual over the water, a private floating breakfast, or simply an evening watching the sky change colour from the overwater hammock in your villa.

That’s the Maldives at its best — not rushing from activity to activity, but allowing space for connection, celebration and, for many couples, the beginning of their next chapter.
