Destination of the Week: Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Great Moments Resort
This week, Daily Travel Source caught up with Angelica Garcia, Director of Sales and Marketing, Hoteles Buenaventura, to learn about the beautiful Puerto Vallarta-based Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Great Moments Resort.
Where is the Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Great Moments Resort based and what makes it so unique?
We’re located right in the heart of Puerto Vallarta-Mexico, just steps from the iconic Malecón and nestled along the beautiful beaches of Banderas Bay. What sets us apart is that we’re a proudly independent, all-inclusive resort, so we offer a more personalized experience with all the amenities and fun you’d expect from a larger brand. Our guests love the warmth of our staff, the authentic Mexican touches, and the fact that everything’s walkable—from artisan shops and galleries to beachfront sunsets.
You have a lot of fun activities planned for this summer! Can you share some of your favorites that guests can participate in?
Absolutely! Summer at Buenaventura Grand is all about connection and celebration—perfect for many multigenerational families looking to make memories together.
Here are some of our top picks:
Beach & Pool Games: From volleyball and paddle‑boarding lessons to our classic sandcastle competitions, there’s something for every age.
Movie Nights Under the Stars: Grab a blanket and popcorn for family‑friendly films right on the beach, complete with the ocean breeze and twinkling lights.
Themed Evenings: Don’t miss our Caribbean and Mexican Fiesta Night with live mariachi and folkloric dancers, parties the whole family can enjoy.
Kids’ Club Adventures: Little ones (ages 4–12) can unleash their creativity with piñata‑making workshops, treasure hunts, and arts & crafts—all under our expert supervision.
Wellness Workshops: Parents and grandparents will love seaside yoga at sunrise, cocktail mixology classes, and live music on the terrace.
Adults‑Only Retreat: For those moments when parents need a little “me time,” we highlight our exclusive areas all adults‑only, all summer long: the wet loungers section by the pool, the beachfront Restaurante Corazón Contento and for Ocean View categories and suite guests our chic Sky Bar.
Whether you’re here with toddlers, teens, or grandparents, there’s a perfect activity around every corner!
Have the resort made any recent updates that visitors have been enjoying?
Yes! We’ve been making continual investments to keep Buenaventura Grand fresh and exciting. Over the past month, we completely refreshed the dining furniture at Frutas y Flores, giving it a bright, modern feel. Looking ahead, this autumn we’ll be remodeling Restaurante Corazón Contento to offer an even cozier, beachfront dining experience.
In our Shakti Spa, the treatment cabanas now feature air conditioning for extra comfort, and the most popular treatment by far is our Hot Stone Massage—all while you’re lulled by the relaxing sound of the waves just steps away. Guests tell us it’s the ultimate in relaxation: an oceanfront setting, climate‑controlled spa suites, and soothing hot stones that melt away tension.
These updates, along with our eco‑conscious enhancements—like expanded recycling stations and more locally sourced ingredients in our kitchens—ensure that every visit feels both luxurious and authentic.
It’s really cool how much the resort honors Mexican culture. What are some programs that you’re especially proud of?
Thank you—we take great pride in that! Our Viva México! weekly celebration is a must-experience: it’s a cultural showcase with artisan markets, culinary stations, and music that truly brings the spirit of Mexico to life. We also have cooking classes where guests can learn to make classics like tamales or aguachile, and every space—from the décor to the ingredients in our dishes—tells a story rooted in Mexican heritage.
Is the resort family friendly and what are some of the favorite plates that visitors love to eat?
We’re incredibly family-friendly. In fact, families return year after year because of how relaxed and welcoming the atmosphere is. Parents love that kids can be entertained with safe, supervised activities, while they get a little time to unwind. As for food—where do we start? Guests rave about our enchiladas de mole, the ceviche bar, and our handmade churros. Kids often go straight for the quesadillas, fresh tropical fruit, and of course, the ice cream station!
